One of the roles of the AISP is to expand, on a humanitarian and diplomatic level, the actions undertaken in the field by civilians and military personnel who have served or are serving under the United Nations flag.

Since its creation, the AISP has contributed to humanitarian development and emergency actions such as:

  • In Cambodia, the construction of a school in the Svray Rieng region and sending a water and sanitation service to Chum-Kiri;
  • In Rwanda, participation in a campaign to vaccinate 50,000 children against DTPolio;
  • In the former Yugoslavia, from 1991 to 1997, a dozen convoys were organised to deliver food, clothing, and medicine,
  • In Benin, rehabilitation of the Porto-Novo hospital,
  • Aid to victims of the Baam earthquake in Iran in 2013,
  • Solidarity with the victims of the December 26, 2004, tsunami in Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry),
  • Flu vaccinations for elderly people in Beirut in September 2005.

For all these causes, you can send your donations via:

History
Solidarity Pondicherry

Many of you responded to our appeal, and thanks to your generosity, AISP and FNAME raised nearly €15,000 in donations and grants. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Following the evaluation mission carried out by our representative, we have established a partnership with a local association that has been operating in Pondicherry for nearly 15 years, the SINDANAI SIRPI SINGARAVELAR SOCIAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION, whose mission is to provide schooling for tsunami orphans. The funds raised by the AISP will be used to purchase land and construct a building to house the association, which will enable it to devote the money it spends on rent to the education of the children. The AISP then wishes to extend this collaboration and continue to help the orphans beyond this specific operation.

After completing the standard checks, our specialist, Mr Aroumougam Segar, is currently in Pondicherry to deliver the checks for the purchase of the land in the joint names of the AISP and SINDANAI SIRPI SINGARAVELAR SOCIAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION. Mr Aroumougam Segar will collect all the administrative and legal documents necessary for this purchase and the construction of the building. We will keep you informed of developments in this project on this website.

He is also meeting with local authorities and French consular officials who are supporting this project.

The letters of mandate and checks were presented to Mr Aroumougam Segar on November 29 at the AISP headquarters in the presence of representatives of the Tamil community of Rhône Alpes, Messrs. Anthuvan and Sancarcoumar.

Solidarity Iran

A violent earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck Iran on Friday, December 26, 2003, at 2:58 a.m. Paris time. In the city of Bam, Iran, 1,000 km south of Tehran, approximately 20,000 Iranians were killed in this disaster, which is considered the most significant one recorded in the region since 1988. The historic district of the medieval city of Bam was completely destroyed.

After lengthy negotiations, the AISP succeeded in setting up a project to build a health centre in the Bam region. The Rhône-Alpes Regional Council and the Rhône General Council participated in this project by granting us subsidies. We have received the estimates for the construction of the health centre and the actual construction should begin within a few weeks.

Solidarity Cambodia

In 1996, AISP financed and assisted in the construction of an additional building at a school in the Svray Rieng region of Cambodia. Although mainly constructed of wood, this structure has concrete foundations and a tiled roof. Over the past 10 years, however, the structure has suffered from the climate, and it is in need of major renovation to prevent it from becoming dangerous and unusable.

An AISP-DH team visited the site in August 2005 to assess the damage and propose solutions. Following this trip, three distinct objectives emerged:

  • renovating the existing structure
  • constructing a new permanent building after demolishing a wooden building that had become unusable
  • providing school supplies.

In addition, a playground could be built within the school grounds.

AISP-DH decided to get involved in this project and see it through to completion.

Project

On November 12, the AISP met with His Excellency the Ambassador of Cambodia to France, who expressed his support for the project.
